As part of the EEN–UNIDO Action Plan aimed at strengthening the capacities of Enterprise Europe Network advisers, a three-day training on digital transformation and the introduction of Industry 4.0 concepts in manufacturing companies took place from 22 to 24 September 2026 in Novi Sad. The training was attended by four FINNO advisers, who will use the acquired knowledge and certified tools to further support companies in the region.
The training was organised in cooperation with UNIDO and focused on establishing a pool of trained and certified EEN advisers who will support companies in assessing their digital transformation readiness and preparing concrete transformation plans.
A key element of the programme was the use of the Factory of the Future methodology, which goes beyond simply assessing a company’s level of digitalisation. The methodology focuses on identifying specific operational challenges, measuring losses and improvement opportunities, and developing a practical and costed roadmap for transformation.
Following the training, participants will apply the methodology in cooperation with manufacturing companies by carrying out digital readiness assessments and preparing recommendations for further steps. This will enable them to help companies identify opportunities for adopting new technologies, improving efficiency, reducing costs and strengthening competitiveness in international markets.
Digital transformation is becoming an increasingly important challenge for small and medium-sized enterprises. While many companies recognise the need to modernise their operations, they often lack the necessary expertise, internal capacities or a clear roadmap for implementation. This is why the role of EEN advisers is essential – they help translate complex concepts such as Industry 4.0, automation, data-driven solutions and artificial intelligence into concrete business actions.
Through this initiative, FINNO continues its mission of connecting knowledge, expertise and support ecosystems across the region. With additional trained advisers, companies from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia will have access to even stronger support for their digital transition, innovation activities and international business opportunities.
FINNO would like to thank UNIDO for the excellent organisation of the training and for the opportunity to strengthen the capacities of Enterprise Europe Network advisers in the field of digital transformation. This initiative represents an important step towards building stronger regional expertise and providing companies with practical support for their digital transition and future competitiveness.
