With tailored support from Enterprise Europe Network and FINNO, Montenegrin start-up MoDrone strengthened its investment readiness, expanded its international network and secured funding to support its development.

MoDrone develops monitoring solutions that combine hardware, software and data analytics to improve safety and efficiency in construction and infrastructure projects. Its flagship product, ALARMslide, provides real-time landslide and slope stability monitoring, helping organisations identify risks earlier and make better-informed decisions before, during and after construction.

From a validated solution to international growth

Having validated ALARMslide through real-world pilots and reached Technology Readiness Level 8 (TRL 8), MoDrone had already attracted early customer interest. The next challenge was to build connections with international investors and strategic partners to accelerate market entry, scale the solution and support further development.

The company needed support in presenting its competitive strengths, refining its market strategy and identifying suitable funding opportunities.

Tailored support through FINNO and Enterprise Europe Network

Through Enterprise Europe Network and FINNO, MoDrone received support focused on its business needs and growth ambitions. This included an assessment of the company’s competitive advantages, refinement of its go-to-market strategy and evaluation of its investment readiness.

Within the FINNO Pitching Academy, mentoring helped the team refine its pitch deck and communicate its technology, market potential and investment proposition more clearly.

The support also included identifying relevant investment opportunities and facilitating participation in international pitching and networking activities, including the r2B event Horizons of Innovation Forum 2025. MoDrone was also invited to present its solution at an international investment event.

These activities gave the company opportunities to connect with investors, explore partnerships and build a wider international business network.

Concrete results

MoDrone’s progress included:

  • €130,000 in funding from the Innovation Fund of Montenegro through the GovTech Programme.
  • A Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions project award.
  • An expanded international business network, opening opportunities for collaboration and growth.
  • A stronger investment strategy and clearer market positioning.

These results highlight the value of combining investment preparation with access to relevant funding opportunities and international connections.

More than preparation for a pitch

For MoDrone, the FINNO Pitching Academy’s value extended beyond a single presentation. Kruna Ratkovic, Co-Founder and COO, explains:

“For us, the FINNO Pitching Academy was much more than preparation for a single presentation. It showed us that the pitching process begins well before taking the stage and continues long afterwards – strengthening the team, developing its competencies, and opening doors to new opportunities and collaborations.”

MoDrone’s experience illustrates how tailored support can help an innovative start-up take the next steps towards international growth: strengthening its business proposition, developing its team and connecting with potential investors and partners.
