The European Commission is organising an online information session on the Scaleup Europe Fund on 4 November 2026, offering founders, investors and other innovation stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about one of the EU’s key new instruments for financing high-growth technology companies.
The Scaleup Europe Fund is designed to address one of the major challenges facing European innovative companies: access to sufficient growth capital to scale their businesses and compete globally. With a target size of around EUR 5 billion, the Fund aims to mobilise substantial public and private investment for promising European scale-ups operating in strategic technology areas.
Supporting Europe’s next generation of technology leaders
The Scaleup Europe Fund targets companies at the growth and scale-up stage, particularly those developing or deploying strategic technologies.
The priority areas include:
- Digital and intelligent systems: artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, semiconductors, advanced computing, robotics and autonomous systems;
- Physical and industrial systems: clean and secure energy technologies, advanced manufacturing, space and mobility technologies, and advanced materials;
- Life and health sciences: biotechnology, medical technologies and agritech.
The Fund can also invest in technologies with dual-use applications.
The Fund is expected to make major direct investments, mainly in the form of equity, with investments in eligible companies potentially reaching around EUR 100 million, including follow-on investments. The objective is to catalyse larger European-led financing rounds and help close Europe’s late-stage financing gap.
The initiative is particularly relevant for innovative SMEs and scale-ups seeking substantial financing to support international growth. Improving access to private investment, venture capital and other financing sources is also an important part of the support provided to growth-oriented companies through Enterprise Europe Network and FINNO activities.
